Weekend With Riley Grace

I promised a post of our weekend with Riley Grace and here it is. She got home early Friday and we went swimming at Mrs. Sharon's with the Flemings (Flamingos as Riley likes to call them). That's our usual routine...as soon as RG gets in we all meet to go swimming at Grandmas. Shonna, Jamey and Caroline couldn't come over because they were having a party at their house, so part of the crew was missing. Maggie Ruth enjoyed swimming with Riley Grace! Riley would do her funny hair tricks and Maggie just giggled! Its so fun to watch them play together! Riley Grace is like a "mommy/friend" to Maggie Ruth.

This a pose for one of her funny hair tricks. She LOVES to make people laugh.

Saturday, she and Maggie Ruth spent some time with my parents (while I mowed/cut hay). When they brought them home I met them at the shop because the dirt road is a MESS! Riley Grace wanted to take a 4 wheeler home so she could ride around the yard. She LOVES to be outside riding (anything)!!!

OK, y'all know I'm not the sappy/sentimental one, but I've got to share this with you. Riley Grace gave me this can with the plant in it for Mother's Day (she made it at school). When she left for Brian's at the beginning of the summer it had not bloomed yet. She kept thinking it wasn't going to. Not 2 days after she left it bloomed and had its first little flower. It's had a flower on it almost everyday since. When she got home Friday, she went to the can and said, "Mama, its never going to get a flower." I had to explain to her that it had already bloomed several times and the flowers had fallen off. I also showed her where the new buds were. Riley Grace left yesterday going back to Brian and there was still no flower. This morning when I got up there was the sweetest little white flower, sitting next to her sweet little freckled faced picture. I got tears in my eyes! Its like God's way of sending me a smile when she's gone!! Forgive me for being so sappy, but I miss her more than words can explain when she's gone.

It's easy to get sappy and sentimental over our own little angels God gives us. Riley Grace is precious...she blessed to have such a good Mama:-)

sounds like a really fun weekend! 2 things:

1. I can't believe you're cutting grass and hey while pregnant! I'd be falling over from exhaustion in the hay bales.

2. That is the sweetest little flower story ever!!

I think this pregnancy thing is getting to you...I don't think I have heard you say a sappy/sentimental thing as long as I have known you!!! I love Riley Grace and miss her being here with us this summer!

Shonna,
I'm laughing outloud because you're so right. Maybe I'll be back to my regular old "not sappy/sentimenal" self when #3 gets here. Y'all won't know what to do w/ me this way!
